Traditional ServiceHaving a funeral or memorial service for your loved one, is usually the first step on the grief journey. Family and friends get to say goodbye, while at the same time they get to share strong feelings.

For most people, however, the weeks following the day of the funeral service are filled with a deep sense of sorrow. It seeps into places they didn't know existed. Grieving periods vary from person to person. But, research shows, on average, the grief process takes 12 to 24 months. Individuals and families need others to support them at this time with understanding, patience, encouragement and guidance.
